My Way support team work alongside individual and their families to co-create, co-design and co-produce support plans based on person needs, goals, preferences, aspirations, and dreams.
My Way support philosophy put person-centred and roles-based planning at the centre of support delivery. The person-centre planning builds on individual talents, strengths, interests, and potential, and it is about what is important to and for the person with disability.
The planning process occurs in a supportive environment to the person with disability and their family and carers. My Way support services promote strength-based and holistic approach which offers hope; choice and control; opportunities and participations to the person with disability, family, and carers.
My Way support team valued and recognised a person with disability, family, and carers as firsthand experts of the supports. The individual and family expertise in determining their needs and hopes, and flexibility to self-direct the support plans is recognised and supported.
Meet our Clinical Nurse and Clinical Educator, Hameed. Hameed has postgraduate qualifications in nursing practice and clinical nursing, including a Master of Healthcare Administration, Policy and Clinical Leadership from Murdoch University. Hameed has indepth experience in acute, complex, medical, surgical, mental health and emergency nursing as well as postgraduate research and teaching.
Hameed is currently working in Community, where he is responsible for providing care to people of all ages in their homes and other community settings. Hameed is passionate about providing high-quality person-centred care to his participants, and he is committed to making a difference in the lives of people in the community. He is also responsible for the education and training of support workers.
Prior to nursing, Hameed was member of Academic Board, Research Committee, Global Leaders Committee, Human Research & Ethics Committee as well as elected University Council member at Curtin University. Hameed was also the chair of Postgraduate Committee, Finance and Risk Committee and deputy chair of Guild Council at Curtin Student Guild in 2021. Hameed brings academic, research and clinical education knowledge and experience to My Way.
Carmel Matira is a Business Operations Manager at My Way – Geraldton branch.
Carmel holds a bachelor’s degree in international hospitality management and her previous role as a registered Property Manager. While being new to this field, she is currently applying her knowledge and experiences in her role to be able to contribute efficiently to the delivery of quality service and care.
She is responsible for the management and leadership of services that support people across their lifecycle and in all domains of life, to enable access to a quality life with dignity in the community, in control of their lives and their supports and services, respect and social inclusion.
Vesna holds a Bachelor of Business Degree and a Graduate Certificate in Social Science from Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. This combination of business and social science qualifications has provided her with a well-rounded understanding of organisational needs as well as the social and emotional factors that shape the experiences of elderly people.
With eight years of dedicated experience in the aged care sector, Vesna has worked in a variety of roles, including Aged Care Information Officer, Aged Care Coordinator, and Participant Engagement and Activities Coordinator. These positions have enabled her to build strong relationships with individuals, families, and service providers, ensuring responsive, person-centred support.
Vesna’s work is guided by core values that define her approach—honesty, trustworthiness, reliability, and altruism. She believes that transparent communication and genuine integrity are essential in creating an environment where people feel understood and supported.
Above all, Vesna is driven by a sincere passion for helping others. She is committed to promoting wellbeing, fostering meaningful engagement, and ensuring that every person she works with feels valued and respected. Her goal is to continue contributing to an aged care environment where dignity, connection, and quality of life are at the forefront.
Joanne Yates is a dedicated Service Coordinator and Home Care Service Coordinator at My Way. With a passion for supporting individuals to live independently and with dignity, she brings a friendly, person-centred approach to everything she does. In her role, Joanne works closely with clients, families, and support teams to ensure care plans are tailored, responsive, and delivered with compassion and professionalism. She takes pride in building strong relationships and helping people navigate the support they need with confidence and clarity.
With over 25 years of experience in the care industry, Joanne brings a deep understanding of person-centred support, compassion, and leadership. For the past 8 years, she has worked as a Home Care Case Manager, helping clients maintain their independence and dignity while navigating complex care needs.
Joanne’s background spans hospitals, residential facilities, and community care, giving her a well-rounded view of aged care services and the ability to adapt to a variety of settings and client needs. Holding a Certificate IV in Ageing Support, she is passionate about delivering high-quality care, empowering individuals, and bringing out the best in both clients and teams.
She believes that great care starts with respect, empathy, and clear communication—and she brings that approach into every interaction.

Known for her empathy, patience, and calm approach, she builds trusting relationships with clients, families, and colleagues alike. Ayen Gai Ayuen is a Registered Nurse and Care Manager with almost six years of nursing experience across rehabilitation, aged care, community care, and care management. She currently works as a Rehabilitation Nurse at The Victorian Rehabilitation Centre and as a Care Manager within My Way’s Support at Home Team, where she helps clients access and coordinate services that support their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Ayen holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Victoria University and has previously worked as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM). Her broad healthcare experience has equipped her with strong clinical knowledge, leadership skills, and a passion for person-centred care.
Known for her compassionate and approachable nature, Ayen is committed to building strong relationships with clients and their families. She believes in empowering individuals through tailored support and delivering high-quality care that respects each person’s unique needs, goals, and preferences.
