Allied Health Overview

Allied health services are therapy supports that can help you to build your capacity so you can be as independent as possible in your everyday life. These supports help to develop your skills so that you can participate in your daily life and recreational activities, and they can also help you to manage pain, ensure your home environment is safe and supports your lifestyle, and keep you happy and healthy.

More About My Way Allied Health Services

Teamwork For A Better Outcome

My Way offers a full suite of Allied Health services. Being based at one site provides an excellent opportunity for our therapists to collaborate to help you reach your goals. We can communicate in person in real time, which means things can happen faster. There is no time-consuming waiting process for emails or phone calls from external providers. This means more efficient and integrated service.

More Efficient Referrals

If a client wants and needs assistance from another professional in the Allied Health team, these referrals can happen without delay. Families don’t have to do their research and go on waiting lists. We have it all in-house and can do it quite quickly for them.

Positive Outcomes From Allied Health Services

My Way clients have access to a full suite of services, including Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Positive Behaviour Support and Nursing Services. Each can offer timely support so people can reach their potential, improve independence and have better educational and health outcomes.

Physiotherapy can help clients regain mobility and improve independence with daily living. Our Occupational Therapist can organise assistive technology and home modifications and help to problem solve with daily living tasks. These factors can profoundly impact the quality of a person’s life and how they feel about themselves.

A Positive Behaviour practitioner might look into the participants’ behaviours and assist with preventing complex or unhelpful behaviours that are damaging a person’s life., They might work with the family and others around them to mitigate those behaviours. Our Registered Nurse can provide acute care or medical maintenance within the home environment so our clients don’t have to travel to a hospital or a GP. Supporting people in these timely ways significantly impacts the client’s morale and assists their family in coping with ongoing challenges.

My Way Values

At My Way, we closely align ourselves to our vision, mission, and values. We are very focused on giving our participants choice and control. We are keen to develop positive relationships with our clients and their families. We are always looking for ways to uphold our values of inclusion and diversity.

Matching Participants

We try to match each participant with somebody we would feel is closely relatable to them in terms of their values, their culture, their age, and even things like religious beliefs. We have staff that are more involved with the younger demographic and staff that are more involved with the older adult population.

Multiple Hubs Across Perth

My Way has multiple hubs across Perth, from Gosnells and Rockingham in the south suburbs, Girrawheen and Joondalup in the north, and Osborne Park in the middle. That reduces travel time and the costs for therapists to travel to participants.

My Way As An NDIS Provider

My Way is a registered NDIS provider. We offer Support Co-ordination, Service Co-ordination, Support Work, and Plan Management. Having those services available on top of Allied Health improves the service that we can provide.

The Allied Health Team

The website has a complete profile of all our staff members. As we build the team, we’re looking for staff that suits the company’s culture. My Way is a friendly environment with a positive atmosphere. We look for people who want to work in a team and respect others’ needs.

Getting More Therapy From Your NDIS Plan

A Level 2 Therapy Assistant can provide therapeutic support indirectly supervised by a qualified therapist. Our qualified therapists would create a treatment plan for the Level 2 Therapy Assistant to implement with our participants. Working with a Level 2 therapy assistant is less expensive than working directly with a fully qualified therapist. The change means we can provide services more frequently to participants at a lesser rate and preserve participants’ funds for longer. As a fully qualified Physiotherapist, I would probably only be able to see my client once a month, but having a Therapy Assistant come in maybe every week or every fortnight would benefit the participant in terms of their motivation levels. It also helps participants understand how to carry out the treatment plan outside formal sessions.
