Are you living in regional Western Australia and finding it challenging to access Home Care support services? We hear you, and we’re excited to share a groundbreaking initiative that will transform the delivery of support in our regional communities.
We’ve been listening to your stories in regional communities like Geraldton, Kalbarri, and Carnarvon. We’ve heard about the stress of waiting lists, the challenge of finding reliable support workers, and the tough decisions families face when considering moving to larger towns for better access to services.
But what if the solution was already in your community? What if your neighbour, a local teacher’s assistant, or a retired professional could have the training to provide the support you need?
Introducing our Champions program – a pioneering initiative that redefines Aged care Home Care delivery and NDIS support in regional WA while empowering individuals and strengthening communities.
Who are our Champions?
Champions are everyday local heroes – parents seeking flexibility, tradespeople, retired people, part-time educational assistants, and community members who want to make a difference in their town. These people already understand your community, live nearby and are eager to help their fellow community members in a flexible, paid role.
What sets this program apart is its local focus. Instead of bringing in support workers from distant places, which can be costly and unsustainable, we’re empowering individuals from your community to step up and provide support.
How does it work?
Our Champions receive comprehensive training and support to ensure they can provide high-quality care. We:
- Provide all necessary Aged care Home Care compliance training
- Offer skill-specific training based on community needs
- Ensure all required checks and certifications are in place
- Create flexible working arrangements that suit both Champions and participants.
The beauty of this local approach is its reliability. When support workers live nearby, they’re more likely to maintain consistent service. Champions can coordinate with each other, forming small local networks to ensure comprehensive coverage for participants.
Why it’s a game-changer
This program isn’t just about providing support – it’s also about strengthening our regional communities. Here’s how:
Local Solutions: No more waiting for support workers to travel long distances for short shifts
Community Connection: Champions already understand local needs and culture
Flexible Support: Champions can work hours that suit both their schedule and participants’ needs
Economic Participation: Creates new employment pathways for regional community members
Skill Development: Provides training and upskilling opportunities for local people.
The Ripple Effect
The Champions program is creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you’re a semi-retired professional looking to give back to your community or someone seeking flexible work while upgrading their skills, this program offers a pathway to meaningful employment while helping others.
Champions can coordinate through local networks, using simple tools like WhatsApp groups to ensure seamless coverage and support. This local coordination means more reliable, stress-free service delivery for participants and their families.
